Tuesday, July 12, 2016 - to Florence, KY

Please...

Mmm-hmm

We found them all! Wait...that doesn't say "Pokemon?"

Time for lunch!

Lunch in Gas City? You bet!

A very cute British restaurant next to cornfields in Indiana.

This was glued to the table next to our plates.

Back at it, on a special highway.

Hello Kentucky industry! (cough*cough*)

Woo!

Welcome to Kentucky!

Kentucky has a museum.

We didn't go in the museum. This is at the front gate.

We are in Florence, y'all!

We are here at UC Health Stadium (where the Florence Freedom plays) to see the Frontier League Home Run Derby!

...AND to partake in Bourbon Fest. Mmm

We'll be back tomorrow too.

Stephanie and the Watertower

Players and everyone were milling about before the festivities. There are both professional players (from the Frontier League) and amateur players (from local Little Leagues) making this a Pro-Am event.

Home Run Derby time!

You may notice there are two fences. The closer one is for the local Little Leaguers who were paired up with the Frontier Leaguers. The Frontier League players had to hit to the regular wall.

This is the player from the hosting team.

Hey! We just saw you! (Stephanie remembers him fondly as "Hot Cocoa Johnson" in Traverse City).

Countdown clock, Each player got 2 minutes to hit as many home runs as possible.

We just saw you at your home ballparks!

The West crushed the East in the first round of the derby.

There was a lull in the action so we went to the tasting.

Stephanie had this.

Todd had this.

The three finalists for the Home Run Derby

The local player wins the title!

After the Derby, there was an autograph session

Half Brains

We were at the bar at the hotel where we and many of the staff of the teams were staying. When the news item came on showing the Home Run Derby, everybody cheered! Congrats to the hometown guy!
